Life is an incredible journey that can be invigorating and magical but can also challenge and knock us off our feet.
There are times when we struggle to find the joy in life, to process our emotions and are overwhelmed by our feelings. It can be challenging to know what our next step is when we are drowning in the stressors of life. It takes incredible courage to recognise when we are struggling, and understand that it takes strength to reach out for support when we have tried everything in our toolbox.
My role as a therapist is to understand and meet you where you are at, and support you in your journey of healing.
In my career I have offered individual counselling to children, youth, young adults and adults. In addition, offering parenting support to parents struggling to engage with their children due to family conflict, parent child conflict, mental health and addiction challenges.
My clients often seek support for anxiety, depression, life transitions, emotion regulation, self-esteem/confidence, parenting support and substance dependence. In addition, I support children and families with the exploration of gender and sexual diversity.
I hold a Masters and Bachelors Degree in Social Work from York University. As well, I am a Humber College graduate from the Child and Youth Worker Program.
I have been working as an Individual therapist, Youth Outreach Counsellor, Triage and Risk Assessment Counsellor for over 15 years. I have experience working in various children’s mental health agencies across the GTA. I have experience supporting children and families in system navigation including medical, legal and education systems.
I use a variety of approaches that support people’s unique needs; including cognitive behavioural interventions, brief-solution focused therapy, narrative therapy, self -compassion, acceptance and commitment therapy.
In my practice I try to support the connection of feelings, thoughts and behaviours with the goal to develop the skills to manage and cope with big or strong emotions.
Together we will create a plan to better understand past experiences and to mediate how they impact day to day life. We can explore personal narratives and identify steps to support desired change.
